Kid Friendly?: A Parents YouTube Channel Review of Flamingo!

Want to find out if the YouTube channel Flamingo is appropriate for your kids? You’ve come to the right place!

With the kids home for all hours of the day, it’s likely that they are spending a lot of their time watching YouTube – we know, we’re not perfect parents either.

If you’re like me you try to shut that down as much as possible, but if you’re like me you don’t pay enough attention to what the heck they’re actually watching on YouTube.

To assist you all – and myself – with this the Johnson Five have decided to sit in front of YouTube and review the channels our kids are watching (and maybe a few that Dad likes to frequent as well).

Every Monday, after we’ve watched three videos from the channel – its most popular, most recent and a kid favorite – we will release a review filled with a synopsis of what the channel is about, their top-viewed video, the Parents Rating, Kids Rating, what age group we felt it was most appropriate for, how we rated it on language, violence, and if there were positive messages. Plus one-line reviews from Mom and the trio!

A little background first, we have one TV in the house. It’s likely we’ll upgrade to a second in the future, but there won’t ever be any in the kids’ room.

We have one tablet that only I use for my eBook for school, or for when I want to watch Hulu in my bed late at night (but rarely happens since I’m out by 10:30 p.m. these days). Oh, and that the kids stay away from because “It’s laggy.” You’re laggy!

We have one family PC that is about 8-years-old and just recently told us that “sorry your PC is outdated, we won’t be updating it anymore!”

Lukas (15-years-old) is the only one that has a device on him regularly. Much to his disappointment, it’s an Android. Whatever Teen!

Lia (11) and Levi (9) have phones, mostly because it came with the Sprint package we recently upgraded to. They only get to check their phones on the weekend and special occasions. We’ll change that for Lia when she hits 13 … or 15 … or graduates.

Lukas usually does his damage on the XBox One he won five years ago doing fantasy football. He’s allowed to play Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, and usually gets some game time in on Saturdays.

Lia and Levi have one assigned weekday and usually get to sneak in some time on Saturdays as well. They rotate between the PC and Lis’ laptop.

Felt the background was needed since we’re diving into YouTube and to give you all a better visual and description to these types of posts.

Our debut channel is one that our youngest will frequent in the early morning hours of the day when everyone is still asleep. I usually wake up Saturday or Sunday to the annoying shrieks of …

Description: “We play all kinds of games but we really like to play Roblox! Make sure to subscribe to let us know you like it too!”

AGE: 9 – 12
Positive Messages: Uh …no none.
Language: He does say “OH MY GOD!” quite a bit, but no other swearing.
Violence: If you don’t want your kids around nonsense video game violence then stay away. In the two videos I watched he shot other characters shouting “Die! Die!”, and in the other he made lava rise so that it killed everyone in the game.

Synopsis: Flamingo specializes in Roblox content where the twentysomething, actually named Albert, creates characters, roams different Roblox games, and then makes somewhat amusing commentary while playing the game.

I went easy on the kid cause I can see the amusement he brings to the Roblox demographic. He’s a bit loud and obnoxious, and his videos, though long in length – averaging between 10-15 minutes – felt perfect for our short attention span culture, meaning the edits are all over the place. He frequently shrieks into the microphone, kills the other avatar players and shouts out NOOB!

Mom’s Review: “Horrible! I can’t stand his screaming!” (She bowed out about 3 minutes into our watch.)

Lukas’ Review: “He’s funny sometimes. He tends to repeat things over and over and that can get annoying.”

Lia’s Review: “He’s funny , but screams into the microphone.”

Levi’s Review: “Seven-out-of-five! He’s funny, he makes me laugh. I want to be a YouTuber like him when I grow up.”

  1. you stupid parents are dumb **** flamingo has the second biggest fan group in all f roblox and he brings a smile to more than 7mil people daily and if you can’t see that you 2 are airheads and a holes just a couple of airhead *****

  2. When it says no positive messages there was one video where he went a debate about women being equal to men, he bought admin and brought the place down, cuz he thought they should be equal

  3. I personally think that flamingo is very close to the best YouTuber. He is very funny and does occasionally bring positive messages. You would have to watch multiple videos of his to see how great he is, and he brings me lots of joy watching him!

    • I KNOW RIGHT , He is like a father to me , People think he’s like that off camera ,but he’s a shy ,calm ,soft baby 🥺

  4. I am the Nana of four boys ages 1 to 8 and have seen more Flamingo than anyone should have to endure. He is rude, obnoxious, and makes extremely mean comments about other Roblox players. In my opinion he is a very bad influence on kids and my grandsons will not be watching him anymore.

    • Ma’am, He isn’t rude at all , he is very sweet , but tends to insult us, if you have ever seen him on his girlfriends lives ,you would know that he is very nice , So check again, and let your grandsons watch him,He is a good influence on kids 🙂 , So Don’t be rude to father rat ,Karen =D

    • that is the biggest lie I ever heard he is very funny not rude he is not obnoxius he is funny and nice he just is nice to watch so let your kids watch him hes nice

  5. I unsure you all that flamingo is kid friendly, in fact he is the person that makes the time move and stops the world from exploding. So he is kid friendly and also a God.

  6. He is such a nice person in real life. If you don’t know him or watched 1 or 2 videos then you shouldn’t judge him. His insults makes the videos more funnier but he doesn’t really mean it though, he just does it for the video! And if you don’t like him then your a Karen 😀
